A splash of aloe juice, please
Aloe vera is best known for soothing sunburns, but the clear gel from the inner leaf is also sold as a drink. Many people enjoy a small splash in water or a smoothie, and aloe has a long tradition of use for digestive comfort. Research is still limited, so think of it as a gentle extra rather than a fix.
If you'd like to try it:
- Choose a decolorized, inner-leaf juice; the outer leaf contains aloin, a strong laxative
- Start with 1 to 2 tablespoons in a glass of water
- Notice how your digestion feels over a week or two
Aloe can affect blood sugar and some medications, and it isn't recommended during pregnancy, so check with your doctor or practitioner before making it a daily habit.
