A ten-minute walk after meals
One of my favorite habits to recommend is a short, easy walk after eating. When you move, your muscles use some of the glucose from your meal for fuel, and research suggests even 10 minutes of walking after a meal may help soften the blood sugar rise that follows. Many people also find it eases that heavy, sleepy feeling after a big lunch or dinner.
It doesn't need to be brisk. A gentle stroll around the block, through the house or with the dog all count.
Try this: after dinner tonight, before you settle on the couch or start the dishes, take a 10-minute walk.
