Add minerals to your water

Staying hydrated is about more than how much water you drink. Minerals like sodium, potassium and magnesium are electrolytes, the charged minerals that help move fluid into your cells and keep your muscles and nerves working smoothly. If you drink mostly filtered or reverse-osmosis water, most of those minerals have been removed along with everything you wanted gone.

I often suggest a simple fix to my clients: add a tiny pinch of unrefined sea salt to your water bottle, plus a squeeze of lemon or a splash of coconut water. You shouldn't really taste the salt; think whisper, not brine.

Try this: add a pinch to your first glass of the day. If you've been told to limit sodium, check with your doctor first.
