Breathe before you eat
Digestion works best when your body is in "rest and digest" mode, the calm state that's the opposite of fight-or-flight. If you sit down to eat rushed or stressed, your body may still be in go mode, which isn't ideal for digesting a meal.
A few slow breaths before your first bite can help you shift gears. It's a tiny pause with a lovely ripple effect: you slow down, taste more and notice when you're satisfied.
Try this: before your next meal, breathe in through your nose for a count of four and out for a count of six. Repeat three times, then pick up your fork.
