Emotional eating, with kindness
Everyone eats for emotional reasons sometimes. Food is comfort, celebration and connection, and that's part of being human. I tell my clients the goal isn't to never do it; it's to notice when food is being asked to do a job it can't fully do.
When you find yourself reaching for something and you're not physically hungry, pause without judgment and ask: what am I really needing right now? Rest? Company? A break from a hard moment?
Try this: list three non-food comforts that work for you, like a walk, a hot shower or texting a friend. Next time, try one first. If you still want the food, enjoy it slowly and without guilt.
