Forest bathing

Forest bathing comes from the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku: simply spending slow, unhurried time among trees. No hiking goals, no step counts. Research suggests time in green spaces is linked with lower stress and a calmer mood, and I see it in my clients too. They come back from a walk in the woods breathing differently.

You don't need a forest. A park, a tree-lined street or your own backyard works.

Try this: find 15 minutes outside near trees today. Leave your phone in your pocket, walk slowly and notice five things: the smell of the air, the sound of leaves, the texture of bark, the light and the ground under your feet.
