Ginger turmeric tea
This bright, spicy tea is lovely on a cold morning or after a big meal. Ginger has long been used for an unsettled stomach, and research suggests it may help ease nausea.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups water
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
- 1-inch piece fresh turmeric, sliced (or 1/2 teaspoon ground)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
- Pinch of black pepper
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 to 2 teaspoons honey (optional)
Preparation:
- Bring the water, ginger, turmeric, cinnamon and pepper to a boil in a small pot.
- Lower the heat and simmer 10 minutes, or longer for a spicier tea.
- Strain into mugs and stir in the lemon juice and honey.
- Make a double batch and keep it in the fridge up to 3 days. It's also nice over ice.
If you're pregnant or take blood thinners or other medication, check with your doctor or practitioner before drinking it daily.
