Give thanks before and after meals

Pausing to give thanks before a meal is a tradition found in cultures all over the world, and it's a lovely one to keep. A moment of gratitude slows you down, brings your attention to the food in front of you and helps you shift out of rush mode before the first bite.

Giving thanks afterward makes a sweet bookend: for the meal, for the hands that grew and prepared it, and for the people you shared it with.

Today's practice: at your next meal, take one breath and silently name something on your plate you're grateful for. When you finish, do it again.
