Greek yogurt parfait

Built the right way, a yogurt parfait is a balanced breakfast or snack. Plain Greek yogurt brings protein (look for "live and active cultures" on the label), while fruit, seeds and a little granola add fiber and crunch without the added sugar of many flavored cups.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup berries or chopped fruit
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed or chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons homemade granola or chopped nuts
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Preparation:

  • Stir the cinnamon into the yogurt.
  • Layer half the yogurt in a glass or jar, then half the fruit and seeds.
  • Repeat the layers, then top with granola and a drizzle of honey.
  • For a grab-and-go version, pack the granola separately so it stays crunchy.
