Infused water
If plain water feels boring, infused water is an easy way to drink more of it. Fruit, herbs and even cucumber add gentle flavor with no added sugar, so it's also a refreshing swap for soda or juice.
Ingredients:
- 8 cups (2 quarts) cold filtered water
- 1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 lime or lemon, sliced
- 6 to 8 fresh mint leaves
- 1/2 cup berries (optional)
Preparation:
- Add the cucumber, lime, mint and berries to a large pitcher and press them gently with a wooden spoon to release their flavor.
- Fill with water and refrigerate at least 2 hours, or overnight.
- Pour over ice. Enjoy within 2 days, topping up with water once or twice before starting fresh.
- More combinations to try: strawberry and basil, orange and ginger, watermelon and mint, or pear and a cinnamon stick.
- hydration
- lemon
- sugar
