It starts in the gut
Your gut is home to trillions of microbes, together called the microbiome, and they do far more than digest dinner. A large share of your immune tissue lines the gut, your gut bacteria help make certain vitamins, and your gut and brain talk constantly through what's called the gut-brain axis. That's why I so often start with digestion when a client's energy, mood or skin feels off.
Your microbes thrive on variety. The more different plants you eat, the more kinds of fiber you feed them.
Simple ways to care for your gut:
- Add a fermented food, like yogurt, kefir or sauerkraut
- Eat fiber from vegetables, beans and whole grains
- Slow down and chew
- Protect your sleep
Try this: add one new plant to your plate today. Even a sprinkle of fresh herbs counts.
- gut health
- digestion
- probiotics
- fiber
- immunity
