Moringa

Moringa comes from the leaves of a fast-growing, drought-tolerant tree native to India. The dried leaf powder is a source of vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, iron and plant protein, along with antioxidants like quercetin. Early research on moringa and blood sugar is interesting but still limited.

Its flavor is earthy, a bit like matcha or spinach, so start small:

  • Blend 1/2 teaspoon into a fruit smoothie
  • Stir into soups or curries at the end of cooking
  • Whisk into a dressing with lemon and olive oil

Moringa may interact with some medications, so check with your doctor or practitioner first, especially if you're pregnant or take medication for blood sugar, blood pressure or thyroid.

Try this: once you have the all-clear, add a pinch to tomorrow's smoothie.
