Natural beauty: sand and buff scrub

Think of this as a two-step ritual for rough spots like heels, knees and elbows: first you "sand" with a salt scrub, then you "buff" with oil.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus a little extra for buffing
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon dried lavender or rosemary (optional)

Preparation:

  • Mix the salt, oil, honey and herbs in a small jar.
  • In the shower, scrub rough areas of damp skin for a minute or two.
  • Rinse and pat dry.
  • Buff a few drops of olive oil into the same spots until absorbed.

Skip freshly shaved or broken skin, since salt stings.
