Post-workout smoothie
After exercise, your muscles look for protein to repair and carbohydrates to refill their energy stores. This smoothie covers both, and research suggests tart cherries may help ease post-workout muscle soreness.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup milk of choice, or coconut water for natural electrolytes
- 1 scoop protein powder or 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen tart cherries or mixed berries
- 1 tablespoon almond butter or peanut butter
- 1 handful of spinach (optional)
Preparation:
- Add the liquid to the blender first, then the remaining ingredients.
- Blend until smooth, about 1 minute.
- Enjoy within an hour or so of your workout, along with a glass of water.
