Spice up your life: try new condiments
A great condiment can turn a plain plate of vegetables and protein into something you look forward to. When healthy food tastes good, you'll want to eat it again.
Many store-bought sauces hide added sugar and long ingredient lists, so read labels or make your own. A few of my favorites to keep in rotation:
- Salsa or pico de gallo for eggs, beans and fish
- Pesto made with basil, olive oil, garlic and nuts
- Tahini thinned with lemon juice and water
- Dijon or whole-grain mustard for dressings and roasted veggies
- Kimchi or sauerkraut for a tangy kick
- Chimichurri with parsley, garlic, vinegar and olive oil
Try this: pick one condiment you've never tried and use it on a meal this week. You might find a new favorite.
- spices
- dressings
