Swap plastic for glass
Some plastics contain chemicals such as BPA and phthalates, and research shows small amounts can move into food, especially when plastic is heated or scratched. Scientists are still studying what everyday exposure means for health, so there's no need to panic or throw everything out at once. Cutting back is easy, though.
Simple swaps:
- Store leftovers in glass or stainless-steel containers
- Microwave food in a glass or ceramic dish, not plastic
- Let hot food cool before it goes into plastic
- Carry a glass or stainless-steel water bottle
Try this: the next time a plastic container wears out, replace it with glass. Little by little your kitchen changes, and it's kinder to the environment too.
