Unplug at meals

Phones have pulled up a chair at most of our tables. But eating while distracted is linked with eating more and enjoying it less, because your brain isn't fully registering the meal.

Unplugging at meals gives your body the cues it needs. The sight, smell and taste of food help prepare your digestion and make it easier to notice when you're satisfied.

Try this: for one meal today, put your phone in another room and turn off the TV. If eating without a screen feels strange, use the time to talk with whoever is at the table, look out the window or simply taste each bite.
