Wild salmon
Wild salmon is one of the best food sources of the omega-3 fats EPA and DHA, which are linked with heart and brain health. It also provides high-quality protein, vitamin D, B12, selenium and astaxanthin, the antioxidant that gives salmon its rosy color.
Wild salmon tends to be leaner than farmed, and many people prefer its flavor. Alaskan salmon is a well-managed and widely available choice, and canned or frozen wild salmon is a budget-friendly way to enjoy it all year.
Try this: bake a salmon fillet at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes with olive oil, lemon slices, garlic and fresh dill. Leftovers are lovely flaked over a salad the next day.
